Description

About Arctic Pharma

Arctic Pharma AS is a privately held company founded in 2012. We are committed to developing anti-cancer drugs that target key enzymes relevant in cancer cell metabolism. Our mission is to develop new pharmaceuticals to combat cancer that have fewer side effects and are environmentally friendly. We have performed several compound/fragment screenings for enzyme inhibitors and are in addition generating promising candidates by medicinal chemistry. Currently, we are performing cell studies to evaluate the ability of lead compounds to inhibit cancer cell growth. We are planning to test some of our most promising drug candidates in mouse models early this year.

Do you want to be part of a team developing the next generation of compounds that will redefine the future of drug discovery? We are an international fast paced team of researchers with expertise in synthetic organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, biochemistry, cancer biology and cell biology. We are seeking a hands-on highly talented and motivated candidate with strong knowledge in organic chemistry reactions and mechanism to join our drug discovery team.

The successful candidate will help perform innovative research in the preparation of novel organic molecules to aid in the discovery and development of new therapeutically relevant compounds. Specifically, the candidate will be responsible but not limited to:

- Design novel bioactive molecules towards a wide range of novel protein targets, in an efficient and independent manner

- Route selection, multi-step synthesis, purification and analytical characterization of new chemical entities

-  Identify lead compounds with desirable properties (Activity, selectivity, DMPK characteristics, physical properties etc.)

-  Apply structure-based drug design principles and integrate with other experimental data collected in the design of new molecules

-   Work closely with scientists from a variety of disciplines to solve synthetic challenges and design novel molecules

-   Provide strategic and scientific input leading to new intellectual properties and patents

-   Write experimental protocols, prepare internal reports and present scientific results

Required Qualifications:

-  Doctoral degree (PhD) in synthetic organic chemistry or medicinal chemistry with solid understanding of organic chemistry and preferably 10+ years of experience

-  Proficient in the use of HPLC, LCMS and NMR instrumentation and interpretation of data

- Research experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical sector and in-depth knowledge of the entire drug R&D processes, ADME/PK, pharmacology and computational chemistry is an advantage

- Experience in molecular modelling

-  Experience in leading research projects (design, execution, analysis and thorough documentation of experiments)

-  Excellent scientific problem-solving ability

-  Ability to both perform research independently as well as within a multi-disciplinary scientific research team

-  Self-driven, taking initiative and can work under short deadlines

-  Excellent oral and written communication skills in English

-  Proven Scientific track record (i.e. peer-reviewed publications, patents, etc.)

-  Proficient in office suite software and graphing/statistic software

The position is initially open for 1 year, with possibilities of prolongation. Anticipated start date January or February 2018. Arctic Pharma provides competitive salaries and a startup environment where your effort will make a significant impact in our drug development.
