Digital Life Innovation Day 2017

Event Details

The Centre for digital life Norway will arrange its first innovation day in Oslo at the 21st of March 2017 at Hotel Bristol, Oslo. The meeting will focus on innovation in the cross section of biotechnology and computer science.

The theme of the meeting is digital biotechnology and innovation. Using digital tools within the biotechnology sector is believed to be of great importance for the global business forward. Centre for digital life Norway will for the first time present a survey of the Norwegian biotechnology sector, where different stakeholders (industrial companies, SMEs, research institutions and TTOs among others) have been interviewed on their use and needs of digital technologies, and how they think such technologies may be of importance to address future challenges and stay competitive. We hope that the ongoing survey will show where the biotech sector is at in terms of use of big data sets and implementation of tools for data handling, modelling, simulations and more. The survey will also reveal challenges in the innovation value chain.

Furthermore, there will be given inspiring talks from an innovator, an expert in industry-academia partnerships and an investor, that will have somewhat different angles to this emerging and developing sector of biotechnology.

Several international experts will share their perspectives in this future-oriented field. Dr. Jason Paragas (Director, innovation, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Washington D.C.) will hold a lecture on how digitalization is transforming the biotech sector; while Wouter Meuleman, (Director of Venture Investments, Illumina Ventures, USA) will talk about investor perspective in his speech “when bio meets computer science ”

The meeting is free of charge and lunch will be served.
