Oslo Cancer Cluster member The University of Oslo: Life Sciences is hosting a special event this upcoming September in relation to stem cell research.
Nobel Laureate Shinya Yamanaka will be lecturing during the programme, of which will first feature an open lecture with the audience followed by questions and answers.
He will give a lecture about a new era of medicine with induced pluripotent stem cells – iPS cells – and participate in a panel discussion about the ethical aspects of stem cell therapy. The events are open to all.
For the second part of the programme, a panel discussion will be held with:
- Shinya Yamanaka, 2012 Nobel Laureate in Physiology or Medicine
- Morten Carstens Moe, Professor II, Faculty of Medicine, University of Oslo
- Anna Smajdor, Associate Professor, Faculty of Humanities, University of Oslo
- Birgit Skarstein, Athlete and member of the Norwegian Biotechnology / Advisory Board
